In this level, the student handles in detail vasantha raga which is a Panchama varja raga. Here again the thala is also challenging as well as the composition. The student learns to sing niraval and swaraprasthara for this in at least two speeds.
Valaj, a raga which can be sung either as sub-main, taken up as a RTP raga or used in viruttam singing is handled in detail.A light raga like Kapi is taught with all the nuances in a heavy classical piece like a javali.
Here again viruttam singing is further honed with quicker raga changes and ragas back in the reverse order.
For a Masters course, content mastery will be approached with a big picture idea. Independent learning by the student with guided listening will be the prominent pedagogy. The 3 compositions chosen in this course CV406 are Hariharaputram – vasantha , Jalandara - Valaj , Parulanamata - kapi . Student is taught raga, kalpana swara and niraval in these ragas, also introduced to Ragamalika viruttam singing.
After the completion of CV406 the student should be able to perform with high proficiency:
Sing in detail ragas like Vasantha, Valaj and Kapi which can be used as a main piece, sub main piece or as a raga in RTP or in Viruttam singing.
Sing Niraval and swara prasthara for a challenging thala like Khanda Eka in at least two speeds with swara patterns and korvais.
Those who have completed the CV405 from the Academy.
Those who have trained in Carnatic music for at least 8 .5 years and a strong foundation of Varnams, Kritis and singing kalpana swaras and alapanas as well as been introduced to
Ragam, thanam and Pallavi singing.
