Natya Sangeet 1- Ghei Chand

Prerequisites

The student needs to have learnt music to a level equivalent to HV203 of the academy.

Overview

The Natya Geet tradition of Maharashtra and Karnataka has applied classical music to bring an evocativeness into the dramatic art. The story, the emotions, the acting and the music are all in continuous interplay, each heightening the effect of the other, and complementing each other, to reach out to the audience and involve them emotionally in the drama, completing the whole experience of having lived the tale. Many learned classical musicians of the times ( from later 19th century) got associated with theatre, thus creating a new genre of music with innovative compositions. The Natyageet tradition contributed to the Indian freedom movement.
